Mathias R. "Matt" Augustine was born July 17, 1911, at Ellis and was a resident of Salina since 1944, moving from Ellis. He died January 29, 1994, at his home in Salina.
Mr. Augustine was a grounds superintendant at Marymount College and was an employee of Salina Wrecker Service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral parish and the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 765, both of Salina.
He was preceded in death by a son, Elmer. Survivors included his wife, Regina; four sons, Leo, Alvin, Virgil and Irvin; four daughters, Sister Mary Augustine, Marcella Goodwin, Betty Oakes, and Helen Phillips; a brother, Joe; two sisters, Regina Flax and Rosie Flax; 18 grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren.
