Kenny Councill passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Easton Memorial Hospital. He was 67 years old.

Kenny was born on July 19, 1941 to Eva Chance Thompson and the late Norman K. Councill, Sr in Ridgely, MD. He grew up in Stevensville, MD where he graduated from Stevensville High School where he was a member of the state champion basketball team. He served in the Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969 and worked as a waterman, crabbing and oystering and also as a hunting guide. Kenny started a wholesale seafood business in Bel Air and Suitland, MD. He later worked as a hunting guide with Twin Ponds. From the 1990s to the present he worked at Friels Cannery in Wye Mills, MD.

Kenny was an avid reader who loved hunting, fishing, and breeding dogs. He was also a past president of the Oyster Diving Association.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fran Councill of Goldsboro, Md; mother, Eva Thompson of Goldsboro, MD; daughter, Gretchen Haines of Hampstead, 2 grandchildren, Julianna and Theo; stepson, Michael L. Larrimore of Cordova, MD; 2 step grandchildren, Ethan and Drew; sister, Dana Lee Thompson of Kent Island and 3 brothers, Rick White of Virginia; Craig Councill of Kent Island and Jeff Councill of Kent Island.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 1 pm at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road, Chester, MD where family and friends may call on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm. Interment will be in Stevensville Cemetery.
