Mrs. Melvina Smith Bryant, 60, died Sunday at Hillhaven Convalescent Center after a long illness. A native of Brooklet, she was a member of Palen United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joyce B. Wright of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother, Herbert Smith of Statesboro; five sisters, Mrs. Maude Hendley and Mrs. Sarah Christian, both of Statesboro, and Mrs. Itlean Hendrix, Mrs. Rebecca Johnson and Mrs. Lue Simmons, all of Savannah; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at Palen United Methodist Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Brooklet. Williams and Williams Funeral Home is in charge.
