Jesse Elwin Smith, Sr., 95, went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2010. He was born on February 6, 1915 in Butler, Oklahoma, to Theodore and Mary Smith. On November 2, 1934, Elwin married Juanita Carter. This year they celebrated 76 years of marriage. Elwin provided a warm and loving home for his family by working as a bus driver for OKC public transportation for 42 years. For many years he was very active in the Capitol Hill Church of God and the last few years attended the Shartel Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Wayne Smith; 5 brothers and 1 sister. He leaves behind his loving wife, Juanita; son, J.E. Smith, Jr. & wife, Jeannie; son, Ted Smith & wife, Betty; daughters: Joyce Elaine Boring, and Barbara Ruth Goodman & husband, Rick; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren. Elwin will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends. Viewing will be 12 Noon to 8 PM today at Vondel Smith Mortuary, S. Western, with the family receiving friends from 4-6 PM. Services to celebrate his life will be held 10 AM, Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Shartel Church of God, 11600 S. Western Ave., with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
