Dorothy died Oct. 31, 2010, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where she had resided for 10 years.
Dorothy Estella Schroeder was born on Sept. 30, 1920, in rural Fountain to Frederick and Amelia (Holton) Schroeder. She attended the District 85 Fillmore County School. Dorothy married Frank Bailey on April 27, 1940, in Wykoff. Frank died in 2000. She lived in rural Fountain and rural Chatfield.
Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, canning, playing the piano, and following her grandchildren's activities.
Survivors include two sons, Steve (Phyllis) Bailey of Hutchinson, Minn., and Dennis (Jane) Bailey of Pine Island; four daughters, Laurel (William) Johnson of Chicago, Ill., Kathi (Thomas) Farrell of Centennial, Colo., Nanette Bailey of Rochester, and Christine Bailey of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Kester of Chatfield. She was preceded in the death by her parents; husband Frank; a daughter, Joan; two sisters, her twin sister Doris, and Mary; and two brothers, Herman and Frederick.
In lieu of flowers the memorial can be directed to the United Methodist Church or the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.
Visitation will be one hour before the service Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Chatfield.
