CONNER--Died May 11, 1893, Lloyd Persing Conner, aged 18 years, 11 months and 7 days, caused by an accident on the rail road.
Deceased was born in Brooklyn, Iowa June 4, 1874. He was the son of John H. and Jennie Conner. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Moomaw at the Brethren church Saturday May 13, and were very largely attended. The pallbearers were all companions in the railway service and were Chas. Morgan, D. McClain, S. Coleman, Geo. Loveless, D. Wells, and Curt Hinds. Lloyd had always lived in Brooklyn. He was a great comfort and help to his mother to whom he was much devoted and her name was first and last on his lips after the fatal moment of the accident. It was a crushing blow to the mother as the love of the son for the mother was fully reciprocated by that of the mother for this son and Lloyd being a favorite child his mother seemed to lean upon him to quite an extent for help and assistance, which it always seemed was Lloyd's highest ambition to grant. He was a quiet, inoffensive, industrious, dutiful boy, guilty of but very few if any bad habits and it seemed as if his life was destined to be one of usefulness and a blessing to the world. He dreamed not on Wednesday evening as he left mother and home that he was going out to return to them no more. Does not the Master's voice ring again in the ears of the unprepared, "Be ye also ready, for ye known not the hour when the Son of man cometh."
Miss May Conner a sister of the deceased from Nebraska, attended the funeral.
