Funeral services for Mrs. Sherman T. Burgess, 60, 415 North Pa__ St., who died at a Madison hospital Friday after an illness of three weeks will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Mitchell of Sun Prairie and interment will be in the Sun Prairie Cemetery. In 1920 Mrs. Burgess was appointed state inspector of beauty parlors and she has traveled for the Joseph Byrne Publishing Co. of New York City. In January of this year she was made national organizer for the American Cosmetician Society. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Mitchell of Sun Prairie, Mrs. H. E. Blackman of Lancaster, PA, and Mrs. F. D. Crucher of Northville, KY; and a sister, Mrs. Marion Perkins of Fremont, NE. Katherine Grace Mattocks was born at Peru, IL on Feb. 7, 1866. At 17 she moved with her parents to Storm Lake, IA where she graduated from high school and taught mathematics. In 1887 she moved to Scott City, KS, where she met Mr. Burgess of Sun Prairie and on Oct. 31, 1888 they were married.
