Funeral services for Laura Hamilton, 89, were held in the Phillips & Luckey chapel with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Rev. D.D. Simpson officiated. Miss Hamilton died about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Manor Oaks Nursing Home where she had resided for the past three years. She was a lifelong resident of Milam County and resided in Rockdale for most of her life. She was born near Rockdale to Mr. and Mrs. James David (Ella Mae Henry) Hamilton. She was a variety store clerk for 43 years, the first 27 at Stricker's and the final 16 at Winn's. Miss Hamilton retired January 1, 1973. She was preceded in death by her father in 1922 and her mother in 1967; brothers James William Hamilton in 1905, and Harry Wynett Hamilton in 1983; also, an infant brother in 1908. Survivors include three sisters, Minnie Mae Fergeson of Houston, Emma Davis of Archer City, and Ruth Caesar of Thorndale; also, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Harry W. Hamilton of Corpus Christi. Miss Hamilton was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale, joining the church on September 7, 1913. Rockdale Reporter, December 24, 1987
