SHAFTSBURY -Angeline May "Angie" Abbatello, 80, died Oct. 23, 2010, at her home.

She was born Dec. 8, 1929, in East Meadow, Long Island, N.Y., the daughter of Rocco and Alma Maitland Abbatiello.

She graduated from Hempstead (N.Y.) High School and Packard Junior College in New York City.

In New York City, her career started as an executive secretary at Mademoiselle Magazine, then at Everywoman's Magazine. She was assistant to the general manager of the Garden City Hotel on Long Island. Before retiring as executive assistant, she was employed at Avis Inc. for 15 years.

In Shaftsbury, she was active in the Republican Committee, Shaftsbury Historical Society, and was the longest-serving lister for the town. She was a member of the Town Facilities Committee and Cemetery Committee, as well as Vermont Old Cemeteries Association.

She enjoyed traveling and photography.

There are no known survivors. She was predeceased by a sister, Alma Pradon, in 2002.

The private graveside service will be in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.
