Melba Bonner, 100, passed away at Baylor Medical Center of Waxahachie on Monday, October 18, 2010.
Melba was born on November 20, 1909 to George and Sallie (Barnett) Schwartz in Palmer, Texas. She grew up in Palmer and graduated from Palmer High School in 1927. She attended North Texas State Teacher's College and Trinity College. She married Robert Lee Bonner in 1936 and they made their home in Palmer. They owned and operated the Bonner Grocery Store and Market of Palmer. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Palmer. She loved to cook and work in her garden.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Bonner and his wife, Ida of Palmer and Joe Bonner of Palmer; one daughter, Nedra and her husband, Vincent Doan of Garland; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and one brother, Lyndal Schwartz of Waxahachie. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert on October 20, 1979, her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Palmer from 6 until 8 p.m. Services will be on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church of Palmer with Rev. C.D. Haun and Vincent Doan will be officiating. Interment will follow at Palmer Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
