HOMER, LA - Services to celebrate the life of Steve L. Barnes, 81, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasure Point Baptist Church, Homer, LA with Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd., Keithville, LA.

Mr. Barnes was born Jan. 14, 1929 in Texarkana, TX to the late Charles and Lois Barnes. He entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 22nd, 2010. Mr. Barnes proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He then worked for Red Ball Motor Freight for 35 years.

Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Barnes and an infant son, Greg.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 23 years, Sonja Barnes; sons, Steve Barnes, Jr. and wife Lynn of Buena Vista, CO and Gary Barnes and wife Kathy of Benton, LA; grandchildren are Stephanie Munds, Shane Barnes, Clint Barnes and Craig Barnes; great-grandchildren are T.J. Solverude and Emory Barnes; three step-children, David Kramer (deceased), Diana Poston and husband Tommy and Tina Lum and husband Andy; step-grandchildren, Lindsey Simpson, Taylor Poston, Jordan Lum and Dalton Lum; step-great-grandchildren, Bailey Poston and Parker Simpson.

Honoring him as pallbearers will be Gary Smith, Robert Alexander, Mike Overstreet, Mike Word, Bob Thompson and Ken Brown.

Special thanks to Sonja's sister, Brenda and Norman Rose and the Pleasure Point Baptist Church.
