BALDES, BERTRAND G., of Louisville, passed away December 15, 2008, at Franciscan Health Care Center, Louisville. He was born July 17, 1915 of German parents Otto Peter Baldes and Ida Elizabeth A. Hilger. He was a retired master arc welder for the American Air Filter Company, and a member at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, and St. Stephen's Catholic Golden Age - Chapter 1. His loving wife of 67 years, Rosetta M. Baldes, and two brothers, Otto Ernest and Arthur Allen Baldes, predeceased him. He is survived by his son, Bertrand L. Baldes (Ellen); two grandchildren, Peter G. Baldes and Cynthia L. Archer; a foster son, James W. Martin (Karen) of Nashville, TN; and their children, Andrew S., Kimberly A., and Katherine R. Martin; and sisters, Dorothy L. Robben, Bernice F. Fetter and Ruth L. Wolfe. His funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Franciscan Health Care Center Hope Chapel with burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, and 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the Franciscan Health Care Center.
