CHARLES OMER (TOMMY) ARNSPARGER, SR., of Resh Road died at the Washington County Hospital Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 of complications after an illness of one day, aged 77.
He was born and reared in Thurmont, the son of James and Elizabeth (Eby) Arnsparger. He had been living in Hagerstown for the past 50 years. He owned and operated Tom's Cafe in Hagerstown, but retired from the business due to ill health. He was a member of the Grace E. U. B. Church, Loyal Order of Moose, the BPO Elks of Hagerstown.
He is survived by wife, Mrs. Anna (Wolford) Arnsparger; children, Mrs. Jane Priest, near Williamsport; Mrs. Doris Harple, Hagerstown; Patricia, Ruth, Charles O., Jr., Russell, Steve, Debra and stepdaughter, Mrs. Shirley Craighead, Hagerstown: five grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Florence Lansford, Hagerstown; brothers, Ross and Maurice, both of Hagerstown; several nieces and nephews.
The body was removed to the funeral home of A. K. Coffman, where services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. the Rev. Dr. Gordon I. Rider will conduct the service; interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7-9.
