James Henry Maples age 90 of Kenefic, was born on January 4, 1919 in Caney, Oklahoma to James Paris and Mary (Pyles) Maples and died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Oak Ridge Manor in Durant. James married Ruth Bookout on December 22, 1935 in Bryan County. She preceded him in death on November 4, 1992.
James is a longtime Kenefic resident and worked as a farmer until 1963 when he owned his own company of hauling gravel for thirty plus years. James was an honest and a simple man. His passion was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to country music shows, and tinkering with old cars and tractors.
Also preceding James in death were his parents; oldest son James Royce Maples on September 21, 1991; two brothers J.P. and Marion Maples; three sisters Aline Williams, Ruby Blair, and Pauline Maples.
Survivors include his two sons David Maples and wife Linda of Durant, Danny Maples and wife Brenda of Kenefic; grandchildren Ronnie Maples of Bonham, Texas; Sabrina Sanford of Ivanhoe, Texas; Danny Lee Maples and wife Annette of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Randall Maples and wife Paulette of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Joey Maples and wife Julia of Kenefic; LaDonna Melton and husband Josh of Kenefic; Misty Maples of Stillwater; Rick Maples and wife Rhonda of Armstrong; and Tony Maples of Durant. Thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and a sister Lucille.
Funeral Services for James will be Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Brown's Funeral Service Chapel with Brother Doyle Pair officiating. Interment will follow in the Gethsemane Cemetery, Caddo. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Ronnie Maples, Danny Lee Maples, Randall Maples, Joey Maples, Rick Maples, and Tony Maples. Family night will be Tuesday from 6PM to 8PM.
