"The death of James F Connelly, Esq, at his home in Harmony township, this county, on Dec 30, 1890, while not unexpected, is yet sad news to his large circle of friends in this section. Mr Connelly was born in Franklin, Pa, September 7, 1817, and his boyhood life was spent there. He was a son of Wm Connelly, one of the first settlers of Venango county, who died at Franklin a few years ago about 100 years of age. His father was a well known surveyor, and an associate judge of Venango county, well known to all the old settlers. Mr Connelly (our subject)was twice married and had 16 children, most of whom are living. His first wife was Eliza Collingwood, who died in 1856, and he was married in (1859) to Abigail Cornelius, who still survives him. His children are as follows: His sons - Charles C Connelly, who belonged to Company A, 121st Regiment, and who was mortally wounded in the battle of the Wilderness; W A Connelly, Esq, of Hickory, Pa; Edwin W of Jamestown, NY; Frank P, who died in 1880; Isaac R of Warren, PA; and Austin of NY state. His daughters - Lydia E McCray, of Arkansas; Mary White of Bemis Point, NY; Aurelia Connelly of Pleasantville; Rachel Copeland of West Hickory; Nettie Kenniston of Tionesta. Children by his second wife - Henry Connelly of Harmony township, Charles of Tarport; Etta Brant of Venango county, Rosa Connelly. Mr Connelly has filled various township offices and acted as Justice of the Peace for many years in Harmony township, and was an able and efficient officer. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church, and was one of the oldest and most respected citizens, and leaves a large circle of friends to mourn his departure. He was buried from the Stewart Run Church on January 1st, Rev James T Brennan having charge of the services."
