At an early age, she was united with the First Baptist Church of Bay Springs, MS. She was a faithful follower and devoted member of the choir.
Myrtle was united in marriage to the late Mose Sherwood. To this union, one child was born.
She later moved to Newton, MS, where she was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. She moved to OKC with her daughter in 1987.
Myrtle departed this life on September 7, 1993. She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Mary Windham, two sisters, Octavia Gillum and Martha Stanfield; five grandchildren, Trenda Dotson, Gregory, Rickey, Maurice, and Michael Windham; twelve great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
