EVANS
Tom Evans, son of Richard and Nellie Houghton Evans, was born Sept. 18, 1904 at Centerville, Iowa and passed away Wednesday, June 18, 1980 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital in Chariton at the age of 75 years.
Tom spent most of his life as a linotype operator for various newspapers except for those years while in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, William E. Evans and James H. Evans.
Survivors include a brother, John Evans of Corydon; two sisters, Jessie Dunlap of Corydon and Margory Sipes of Chariton and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held Saturday, June 21, 1980 at the Mosher Funeral Home. The Rev. Gregory Davis conducted the service and Mrs. Mildred Sanders provided the music. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Moore, Harry Robinson, Paul Show, Don Kingsbury, Rex Benway and J. B. Evans.
