MOS: 0311 Rifleman.
When George arrived in Vietnam, he was assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. While participating in Operation Hastings the battalion was at Razor Back Ridge (Hill 362) and 12 kilometers west of Cam Lo, when the Marines encountered a large enemy force. George died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile small arms fire. The Marines lost 28 men during the fierce fighting.

Survived by his wife, Donna Corey of 26 Sylvania Avenue, Winchester, Kentucky and his parents; Clay and Ada P Corey and his 3 brothers; Charlie, Wendell, Robert and Russel Corey, all of 37 Estill Terrace, Mount Sterling, Kentucky.
