ENFIELD, CT - Katherine "Katie" V. Gonyea, 95, entered into eternal life peacefully on Thursday, May 27, 2004 surrounded by loved ones at St. Joseph's Residence, Enfield. Katherine was the widow of Joseph O. Gonyea. She was born on Nov. 22, 1908, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Misiaszek) Magiera. She had resided in Enfield for the past 10 years and in Indian Orchard prior to that. Mrs. Gonyea was formerly employed by Buxton's for many years and was a former member of St. Matthew's Church in Indian Orchard, MA. Katherine is survived by her loving family, a son and daughter-in-law, Richard L. & Barbara R. Gonyea of Enfield, a daughter-in-law, Shirley C. Gonyea of Ludlow, MA, and a daughter-in-law, Eileen S. Gonyea Crosby of Springfield, MA; 13 beloved grandchildren, Carol, Thomas, William, Ronald, David, Kathy, Lorri, Joseph, John, Pamela, Gwen, Lawrence and Donna, 26 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Manuel Gomes of Ludlow, MA and two sisters, Edna Sullivan and Ida Skwiz both of Indian Orchard, MA, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs Gonyea was also predeceased by two sons, Lawrence in 1965 and Clarence in 1989; a grandson, Keith J. Gonyea; four brothers, Edward, Alto, Stanley and Rudolph Magiera and two sisters, Josephine Sullivan and Mary Kasek. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Gonyea will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 10:30 am in St. Joseph's Chapel at St. Joseph's Residence, 1365 Enfield Street, Enfield. Interment will take place in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Indian Orchard, MA. The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Joseph's Residence on Tuesday, June 1, from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations in her memory be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, c/o St. Joseph's Residence, 1365 Enfield Street Enfield, CT 06082. Browne Memorial Funeral Chapel, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield, CT has been entrusted with Mrs. Gonyea's arrangements.
