Mrs. Hattie Fea Chase, 85, died Monday evening, January 2, at her home in Ionia township at 6:45 o'clock following a serious illness of three days. She had been in poor health for some time.

Mrs. Chase had been a resident of Ionia township for many years, coming from New York state when a small child with her parents. Her husband, the late James J. Chase, preceded her in death in 1926. She was a member of the Church of Christ and an honorary member of the aid society.

Surviving are two sons, Ernest Chase of Ionia and John Chase, who resides at home; four grandchildren, Mrs. Don Lamphere of Muir, Mrs. John Eckley of Ionia township, Miss Betty Chase and Jack Chase of Ionia. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted from the North Plains church Thursday afternoon, January 5, at 2 o'clock, preceded by a prayer service at the home at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral service. Interment will be at North Plains Cemetery. The Rev. Paul L. Stewart of Ionia will officiate.
