Mrs. Costello was born near Monticello April 3, 1854, daughter of James and Sarah Fagan McGarvey. She lived in Port Jervis nine years, and since that time has been a resident of Middletown. She was married at Ellenville, St. Andrew's Church, by Rev. Father Mugan to William Costello, deceased.
She was the mother of twelve children, eight of whom survive; Sarah T., wife of Thomas F. Agnew, of North Bergen, N.J.; Mary A. Costello at home; Nellie U., wife of F. B. Williams, and Thomas B. Costello, of Middletown; Sister Agnes Marita, Sister of Charity and teacher in St. Mary's School, Port Chester; William F. Costello, at home; Rev. Charles A. Costello, of DuBois, Pa., and John V. Costello, at home. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and one brother, James J. McGarvey, of Middletown.
