Born in Schenectady, Mr. Capritta attended Nott Terrace High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He was a lifelong area resident.
During the Korean War, he served with the Army.
For several years, Mr. Capritta worked for the General Electric Co. Later, he was proprietor of Cal 's TV in Schenectady for 25 years. Since 1988, he worked for Phoenix Pools in Burnt Hills.
Survivors include a son, Cataldo V. Capritta Jr. of Rotterdam; two daughters, Donna Alescio of Rotterdam and Joanne Gonzales of Guilderland; three brothers, Carmen Capritta of Schenectady and Danny and Angelo Capritta , both of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Margaret Capritta of Valatie; five grandchildren; and his longtime companion, Vonna Famiano of Schenectady.
Services will be at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., and at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in St. Cyril's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Regional Center at St. Peter's Hospital.
