He was born October 10, 1917, in Saint Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL, to Harry F. and Margaret Watkins Chamberlain. His mother passed away when he was two, and his father later married Gertrude Junker.
He married Hattie Virginia Graves on June 27, 1940, in Davenport, IA. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Linda (Roy) Bevis of Cherokee, AL; and Mrs. Bonnie (Douglas) Koke of Havana, IL; four brothers, Randall (Marg) of Bradford, IL; Jake (Laura)of Tiskilwa, IL; Warren (Ruth) of Varna, IL; and Norm (Lucille) of Sunnyland, IL; four sisters, Mrs. Pat (Jerry) Rudd of Georgia; Mrs. Jo Anne (William) Chrissman, Mrs. Mary Lou (Jim) Jeffries, and Mrs. Beverly (Tom) Williams, all of Florida; three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death.
He was a carpenter and was a perfectionist in his work. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Varna, IL, and a former member of the Varna Rotary Club and Varna Fire Department.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Varna Funeral Home. The Rev. Lane Knouse will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cumberland Cemetery in rural Wenona, IL.

My Dad suffered terribly with reumatoid arthritis as you can see by his wrist. He was in constant pain - but he never complained. Most of his joints were affected by this crippling disease.
