Thomas F. Banks, aged 78 years, for many years a resident of Mulberry Grove, died at his home there at 11:30 o'clock Saturday morning after a short illness. Death was dues to heart trouble.
Private funeral services were held at the residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon, Rev. Father J. J. Enright of this city officiating. Interment was made at the Mulberry Grove cemetery.

Thos. F. Banks, a highly respected & well known citizen of Bond Co., passed away at his home in Mulberry Grove at 11 a.m., Saturday, 10Mar, at the advanced age of 80 years.
Private funeral services were held at the family residence at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Father J. J. Enright, of Greenville & interment was made in the Mulberry Grove cemetery.
Mr. Banks was born in Longport, Ireland, & came to this country when 3 years of age, with his parents, who located in Toledo, OH, & in that city he grew to young manhood. At an early age he entered the Christian Brothers College at Chicago, where he graduated with honors & afterwards entered the Sloan's Chemical College in the same city where he was prepared for a successful business career. In this city he was a close firned of the well-known evangelist, Dwight L. Moody, who at that time was holding his first services in sheds, & also of the Hon. Mayor Carter Harrison, Sr., who helped & encouraged him in his business undertakings.
On 27Oct1869, Mr. Banks was united in marriage to Miranda B. Brown, who preceded him in death on 07Jul1906. To this unino were born 8 children, 6 of whom are living, as follows: Mrs. B. J. Boyle, of Terre Haute; Mrs. E.N. White, & Mrs. Andrew Morrison of Crawfordsville, IN; Mrs. Rose Minor & James Banks of Mulberry Grove & Winfield S. Banks of Longs Beach, CA.
Mr. Banks in former years was prominent in political & business affairs of Bond Co., being engaged in the lumber business at Mulberry Grove & Smithboro, & connected in an official capacity with the St. Louis Dairy Co., also serving several terms as Justice of the Peace. In all these enterprises he lean an active life until the failure of his health compelled him to retire from business activities.
Mr. Banks was a man of marked ability & honesty & generous to a fault, a kind & indulgent father, & will be greatly missed by his family.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. & Mrs. Barney Boyles of Terre Haute; Mrs. Kate White of Crawfordsville, IN; & Mrs. Nellie Morrison, also of IN.
