Funeral services for Norma M. Arnold, 81 and a resident of Davenport will be Friday, December 4, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal where she will be laid to rest along side her beloved husband George. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Arnold died Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Norma Marie was born July 8, 1928 in Mount Vernon, South Dakota a daughter of Porter and Elsie (Breland) Olson. She spent her early childhood years on a farm near Corning, Iowa prior to her family moving to Davenport in 1941. Norma was united in marriage to George Arnold on August 19, 1947. He preceded her in death February 27, 1999.

Mrs. Arnold was a member of the Davenport Moose lodge, she had been a bartender at the Commodore Tap for many years and enjoyed the many friends she had made there through the years.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Genesis Home Hospice or the family.
Survivors include her sons Michael Arnold and Rick (Lori) Arnold; grandchildren Mike, Vicky and Shari; and six great-grandchildren; her sister LaDonna (Thomas) Cole of Des Moines, IA, her sister-in-law Wanda Olson of Davenport.

In addition to her husband and parents, her brother Bud Olson, and daughter-in-law Susie Arnold preceded her in death. May they rest in peace.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Genesis Home Hospice staff for their countless hours of compassionate care and to staff at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf for the wonderful care Norma received in her last days.
