MARRIED THIS AFTERNOON
Burt K. Blair and Miss Christine Luscombe Wedded
This afternoon at 4:15 o'clock Burt K. Blair and Miss Christine Luscombe were united in marriage. The ceremony was performed by Dr. H. O. Scott at the home of Dr. W. B. Post, Mrs. Post being a sister of the bride. The wedding was a very quiet affair and there were no invited guests, but with the consent of Mrs. Post the following intimate friends and relatives took the young couple by surprise by coming in to witness the ceremony. Mrs. Robert Ornduff, Misses Nira Wright and Helen Clark: Messrs Robert Orchard, Lewis Manley and Tom Luscombe and Mr. and Mrs. Chas A. Blair.
The bride was attired in a pretty dress of purple Venetian cloth.
Immediately after the ceremony the young couple were driven in a carriage to the Frisco depot where they took the 4:45 Frisco train for Monett which will be their future home.
Mrs. Blair is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Luscombe of this city and is beautiful, accomplished and thoroughly well like by everyone. She is a graduate of the Carthage college and is a prominent member of the Tourist Club in which organization she will retain her membership, returning to Carthage every two weeks to attend its meetings.
Mr. Blair is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. John Blair of this city and is a capable and popular young man. He holds the important position of chief clerk in the office of Division Superintendent C. R. Gray of the Frisco at Monett and has already furnished a cozy home next door to the residence of Mr. Gray, in which he and his wife will begin housekeeping at once. When they arrive at their new home they will find an elegant supper awaiting them the same having been prepared under the direction of Miss Ethel Gray, a sister of Carl Gray who is well known in this city.
The tea party will consist of the bride and groom, Miss Gray and a young gentleman friend of the latter.
The best wishes and congratulations of hosts of Carthage friends are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Blair.

According to two newspaper articles in the 1903, Carthage (Missouri) Evening Press of June 3 & 15, Christine was an invited guest of Harriette Gray at her home in Springfield, MO along with eleven other lady's for a week of entertainment, including a two day excursion to Arkansas' resort, Monte Ne, aboard Carl Gray's private railroad car.
~ Carthage Press, 28 FEB 1918, Mrs. C. T. Hall will leave tonight for St. Louis to be with her sister, Miss Magdalen Hendricks, who underwent a very serious operation at the St. Luke's hospital. From St. Louis Mrs. Hall will go to Upper Alton, Ill., to visit her son, Winston Hall, who is a student at Western Military Academy. Mrs. Burt Blair, of Joplin, will accompany her and will visit her sister, Miss Maude Luscombe, who has been a patient in the St. Luke's hospital for two years.

Had Been in Ill Health For Some Time,
But Sudden Death is Unexpected
Mrs. Christine Luscombe Blair, 57, wife of Burt K. Blair, died suddenly at 4 o'clock this morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. W. B. Post, of South Main Street. Acute dilation of the heart was the cause of death.
Mrs. Blair long had been in ill health but the end came without warning. She was heard to call a few times in great pain, and by the time members of the family reached her side, she apparently had passed away.
Born in Carrollton, Missouri January 1, 1872, she came to Carthage in 1879 with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Luscombe, who were prominent residents here for many years. She grew up in Carthage and as a girl united with the Presbyterian Church. She retained her membership in the First Presbyterian Church here.
She was married to Mr. Blair November 30, 1899.
Mrs. Blair's father was a former mayor of Carthage and one of its leading business men for many years. For a time he was associated with the late Charles F. McElroy in the mercantile business. Later he engaged in milling and also was a successful mine operator. He was the founder of the tripoli works at Seneca and for a time the Luscombe family made their home in that town. Her parents died here a number of years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Blair, during recent years, had divided their time between Bear Den, their summer place on the James River, and Carthage and Joplin.
Survivors are the husband,
three sisters;
Mrs. W. B. Post
Miss Maude Luscombe both of Carthage and
Mrs. Frank Atwood of Jefferson City
one brother;
Carl Luscombe of Sandusky, Ohio.
another brother, Thomas O. Luscombe,
lost his life in a disastrous train wreck near Tipton Ford about 15 years ago.
Funeral services were held at the Post Home
