Rev. Ansorge Dies at Emmetsburg
Ordained in 1939 at Council Bluffs
The Rev. Arthur J. Ansorge, 41, Emmetsburg, St. Paul's Lutheran minister, died suddenly Tuesday at an Emmetsburg hospital following an asthma attack. He was ordained here in 1939.
The Rev. Mr. Ansorge attended Concordia Preparatory school at St. Paul, Minn., and was graduated from Concordia Seminary at St. Louis, Mo.
His first charge was St. Paul's Lutheran church, seven miles northwest of Oakland. From there he went to Emmetsburg in 1941.
At the time of his death, he was editor of the Lutheran district publication, The Lutheran Witness Supplement.
Pioneer Circuit Rider
His grandfather, the Rev. B. J. Ansorge, was a pioneer northwest Iowa circuit rider. He came from a family which included eight ministers.
Survivors are his widow, Selma Mueller Ansorge, a former resident; two sons, Charles and Billy, both at home; his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. J. Ansorge of Manning; three brothers, the Rev. Max Ansorge of Spirit Lake, the Rev. Carl Ansorge of Parker's Prairie, Minn., and James Ansorge of Des Moines; and one sister Luella Ansorge of Omaha.
Funeral services will be held at the residence at Emmetsburg, Friday, at 9:30 a.m., with the Rev. C. W. Hinrichs officiating. The Rev. W. H. Discher of Clarinda, second vice-president of the district, and the Rev. Theodore Hoemann of Adair will conduct services at the church at 10 a.m.
The body will be brought to Council Bluffs for services at St. Paul's Lutheran church at 5 p.m. The Rev. O. A. Soeldner, pastor of Timothy Lutheran church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
