RUTH J. DORIS On Friday evening, August 13, 2010, Virginia Ruth Jones Doris, age 98, of East Point peacefully left this life to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Ruth Doris was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 23, 1912. Ruth's family moved to Atlanta, GA when she was two years old. Ruth was raised on a farm which today is the site of Atlanta Area Technical College. Ruth and her husband moved from Sylvan Hills to East Point in 1950 where she became an active member of The First Baptist Church of East Point, She taught a Senior Adult Sunday School Class until a few years ago. After her retirement, the class was named the Ruth Class. Mrs. Doris was humbled by this honor. Ruth also remained active in her women's circle which she hosted in her home until a few months ago. Ruth Doris was a devout Christian, a faithful wife and a terrific grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruth Doris was preceded in death by her father, Josiah Felton Jones; mother, Annie Maude Booker Jones; sisters, Doris J. Parks and Sara J. Steed. Ruth was also preceded by her loving husband of forty-four years, Marvin Wood Doris. Mrs. Doris is survived by her three sons, and daughter-in-law: Josiah (Joe) Wood and Joy Doris, of Fayetteville; John Marvin and Carol Doris of Dunwoody, and James Douglas (Doug) and Barbara Doris of Sanford, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Jeff, Jim, Julie, Travis, Jake, Ashley, Katie and Ryan; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Ruth will be held in the Main sanctuary of The First Baptist Church of East Point, GA at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010 with Dr. J.W. Wallis officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
