VENETA — A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the Veneta Seventh-day Adventist Church for Lonnie Joseph Huddleston of Veneta, who died Sept. 29 of age-related causes. He was 89.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Rest Lawn Cemetery in Junction City.

He was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Stidham, Okla., to James and Flaura Harmon Huddleston. He married Aletha Bender on Nov. 26, 1947, in Vancouver, Wash.

He attended public schools in Lane County. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, serving in the Aleutian Islands. He worked for CARMAC Veneer and Trus Joist for many years, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Bonnie Merritt of Veneta, Sharon Reed of Redmond, Judy Langford of Trout Creek, Mont., and Diana Temple of Walterville; two sons, Jack of Veneta and Duane of Bend; a brother, Arthur of Eugene; two sisters, Leona Stewart of Lebanon and Mae Nichol of Corvallis; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
