Mr. Harvey Adams, age 82, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at Summer’s Landing Retirement Home in Douglas. He was born on Nov 6, 1922, to the late Riley and Elizabeth Nipper Adams.
Mr. Adams was a native of Coffee County and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglas, Ga., He was a WWII veteran of the US Army Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Dermott Adams; sons, Van [Ann] Adams, Albany, Al [Beth] Adams of Muncie Ind; Brothers, Paul Adams, Eugene Adams, Jerry Lee Adams,; sisters, Virginia Merritt, Vera Compton, Marie Shockert; grandchildren, Candace, Donny and Ted Adams ; step-grandchildren, Bill Sanderfur and Melissa Johnson; other family and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2pm on Sunday, April 24 at the First Baptist Church. Graveside services, with military personnel of Fort Stewart presenting the US Flag to the family, were in the Douglas City Cemetery.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
