Miriam Naomi Ellis Breckenridge, 106, now an angel in heaven, formerly of Fairview Ave in Wallingford, entered into rest on October 27, 2008 at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford. She was the loving wife of the late Warren Breckenridge.

She was born on September 2, 1902 in Middlebury, a daughter of the late Marcus D. and Emily (Hoadley) Ellis. She was founder and past queen of AISHA Temple No. 83 Daughters of the Nile and life member of Meridian Chapter No. 8 Order of the Eastern Star and Order of the Amaranth, Westwood Court No. 5 Meriden, CT. She was a pioneer of and retired from the New Haven Phone Company (SNET/AT&T) and was the Republican Registrar of Voters in Wallingford for many years.

Miriam is survived by a great niece, Karla Jespersen of Cheshire; a daughter, Linda Butler of Enoree, SC; grandchildren Amy Harman, Paul and Warren Horvath and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by nephews George Ellis of Cheshire, William Meyer of West Boxford, MA and Franklin R. Meyer of Enfield, CT and many great and great, great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Beverly; sisters Josephine Rogers Warner, Emily Bowen, Mary Hubson, Harriet Meyer and brothers Eugene, George and Marcus Ellis and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special note of thanks to the staff of 6 Ramage for their dedication, care and love given to Miriam during her 18 years in residence at the Masonic Healthcare Center.

Interment was in the In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
