He was Chief of Staff for the 10th Division during World War One, He was 32nd Commandant of Cadets for West Point from 1936-1937 and during World War II he was a Brigadier General and commander of Combat Training Command in the Pacific from 1943 - 1945 for which he was awarded the Legion of Merit.
From 1945 - 1946 he was Assistant Division Commander for the 96th Division and from 1947 - 1949 he served as senior instructor to the Colorado National Guard until retirement.
