RICHARD RUDOLPH

Richard Rudolph, 94, of 1129 S. 12th St., Manitowoc, died Friday at Park Lawn
Home, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient the past seven weeks.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Phipps Memorial Chapel of First
Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. Gervase Zanotti officiating. Burial
will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Masonic memorial services will be
conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Rudolph was born July 3, 1869, at Manitowoc, son of the late Gotlab and
Amelia Schwartz Rudolph. He attended the former Third Ward School and in his
early youth worked for the North Western Railroad. He was appointed, with the
late Elton Gibson and Fred Rockhoff, as one of the first three letter carriers
at Manitowoc March 18, 1893. A letter carrier for 40 years, he retired in 1933.
He married the former Augusta Eberhardt Nov. 28, 1894. They lived at Manitowoc
their entire married life. She died in 1951.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1909 and a member of the
church’s board of trustees for 18 years. He had been a director of the Manitowoc
Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and a member of the Manitowoc Masonic Lodge F. and
A.M. No. 65, serving on that organization’s board of trustees 18 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Verna F. Rudolph, of Manitowoc; a sister, Miss
Hulda Rudolph, of Manitowoc; a brother, Hugo Rudolph of Manitowoc,; and several
nieces and nephews. Four sisters and a brother also preceded in death.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and from
11 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Memorial fund
of First Presbyterian Church.
