Emily was a Senior at the University of Texas - San Antonio, where she transferred from Oklahoma State, on a sports scholarship. She she started 15 games at third base for the softball team in 2010. A three-year starter at Kingwood High School, (Kingwood, Texas), Blackburn was a two-time All-State first-team selection for the Lady Mustangs. She helped lead the Lady Mustangs to four straight district titles and a regional quarterfinal appearance in 2006. At Oklahoma State, she had four home runs and 19 runs batted in. She loved life, softball, her many friends and her dog Koda.
