I have her obituary somewhere, need to find it again. It states my grgrgrandmother wore herself out caring for a sick friend and just never recovered, that this was the kind of person she was. Capable and optimistic, always thinking of others, she never dreamed her own health had limitations until she genuinely ' overdid it '.

"Funeral services of Mrs. M.P. Jolley were held at the Methodist chuch Staurday p.m. and a large number of family and friends attended to show love and affection for the wife and mother just passed away. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Rev. Doctor W. M. Balch conducted the service and he was assisted by Rev. Doctor Blaney and Reverend E.R. Brown. The pall bearers were three of the sons, William, Paul and Morris, and Bert Dyer. The other son, Charles, was unable to reach here in time for the funeral. Honorary pall-bearers were Mrs. S.K. Kirk, Mrs. O.J. Peters, Mrs. J.A. Fiddock, Mrs. S.M. Shockey, Mrs. S. Menor, Mrs. J. Nicolay. Burial was in Abilene cemetery.

The children are, Mary Evans, Abilene, William A., Boulder, Co., Charles W, Sharon Springs, Kan., Morris R., Washington, Kan., and Paul S., Abilene.
She was reared under the teachings of the Methodist church, which was shown in the results of her life's work.
She took especial interest in the Women's Foreign Missionary Society and was constant in her zeal, as shown by the local and district offices she occupied.
Her constant thought was in the in the line of religious and charitable work. Her death was the result of over-exertion in nursing and assisting at the time of the death of a neigbor nine years ago. The work was exceedingly severe, so much so that she collpased after the funeral and never regained her former vigorous health. Her condition was known to her physicians who expected the end years ago so her sudden death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Jolley moved to Abilene in early 1870, and experience the trials and visissitudes which only the early settlers can appreciate. She took a leading part in many activities, being an earnest worker in the Ladie's Aid Society, Woman's Relief Corp, Ladies Literary league and two fraternal societies. A host of friends will miss her, and extend sympathy to her sorrowing family."
Died 16 March 1912, survived by husband, 1 daughter, Miss Mary Evans Jolley of Abilene, 4 sons, Dr. William A. of Boulder, Colorado; Charles W. of Sharon Springs, Ks; Morris R. of Washington, Ks. and Paul S. of Abilene.
