Hood River News Obituary, July 18, 2007
Juanita May Beeks
Juanita May Beeks, 87, passed away on July 12, 2007, at her home in Hood River with family by her side.
A Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Anderson's Tribute Center, 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River. Graveside rites will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Dr. Silas Shotwell of the Hood River Church of Christ and Celebrant Bob Huskey will officiate.
Friends are invited to greet with family on Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Anderson's during a time of viewing and visitation.
Juanita was born March 28, 1920, at Athena, Ore., to Harvey and Avis (Zerba) Dugger; the third of four children. She moved with her family to Goldendale, Wash., and attended school there and graduated in 1937 from Goldendale High School.
On Aug. 25, 1939, she married Eddie Beeks in Temple, Texas, and to the union they were blessed with two daughters, Kaye and Janice. The family lived in Goldendale until 1957 when they moved to Hood River. In 1980, Juanita and Eddie retired and moved to Dallesport, Wash. Eddie passed away in 1987 and Juanita moved back to Hood River to be closer to family.
Juanita had many passions in life. She loved her family and being able to spend time with them; she was an active member of Hood River's Church of Christ and enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing, traveling, camping and baking special treats for all her grandchildren. Her beautiful smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
Juanita is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Kaye Jeanes, of Benge, Wash., and Janice Devers, of Hood River; six grandchildren, Debbie, Kim, Trisha, Mark, Teressa and Dani; and great grandchildren Traci, Keith, Tara, Kirstin, Mindi, Bo, Brett, Jordan, Jesse, Kaitlyn and Tristan; and her brother, Sheldon, and Margie Dugger of Salem, Ore. Juanita is also survived by extended family members Dan Devers, Mike Jeanes and Mike Sollman, and her very special friend Tuffy (her cat). In addition to her parents and husband, Juanita was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Clifford.
Family suggests that any memorials be made to Hospice of the Gorge or the American Cancer Society in memory of Juanita; send in care of Anderson's Tribute Center.
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; (541) 386-1000; www.andersonstributecenter.com.
