Bernhardt Emil Neumann, Jr., 80, of Columbia, Missouri died Tuesday, September 7, 2010.
Mr. Neumann was born on October 31, 1929 in San Antonio, Texas to Bernhardt E. Neumann, Sr. and Marie (Dawes) Neumann. He was raised by his father and stepmother, Myrtle (Ratliff) Neumann.
He was a 1952 graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.
Upon graduation he was commissioned a 2Lt. in the U.S. Army spending the next seven years in Korea, Hawaii, Lebanon and Germany.
He was a member of the 25th Infantry Division, 27th Regiment, G Company.
On November 10, 1962 he was united in marriage to Mildred Karen (Eby) Neumann in Mobile, Alabama. After his military service, he pursued a career in the field of Anesthesia spending many years as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Mr. Neumann practiced his specialty in Alabama before moving to Missouri and joining the staff of the VA Hospital and, after retirement from that hospital, Columbia Regional Hospital.
Mr. Neumann thoroughly enjoyed outdoor activities including golf, hunting, and later in life, fly fishing.
