BELOIT, Wis. - Clotee Owens Moore died Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Beloit Memorial Hospital. Formerly of Houston, she was born Aug. 31, 1916, to the late Curt Owens and Norsis Conner Owens. She joined Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age. She married Robert Lee Moore in 1932. She and her husband worked as sharecroppers for many years. She also worked as a domestic in private homes and as a cook for the Houston High School. After the death of her husband in 1984, she moved to Beloit, Wis. There she became a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother's Board, Senior Choir, Missionary Society and the Hot Lunch Program.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Beloit. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Houston. Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home of Beloit, Wis., is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Ludean (Fred Curtis) Lockhart of Beloit, the Rev. Bobby (Christine) Moore of Davenport, Iowa, Jimmy Moore of Beloit and Gwendolyn (William) Toles of Clarkston, Mich.; a sister, Adelle Jernigan of Nettleton; two sisters-in-law, Arlee Owens and Clevis Owens; a daughter-in-law, Marcie Moore; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Odella Roberson, Lula B. Brown, Mary Tubbs and Mary K. Bond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two children, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, five brothers and three sisters.
Local visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Houston.
