William Mead is the son of Enos Mead born 1786 NY and Nancy Avery, daughter of Enoch Avery and Dorcas Woolsey (now looking for Wiliam's grandparents, Enos Mead's parents)
William Mead moved to Switzerland county Indiana before 1842. He was on a committee for the Switzerland County Ball, and invited Emily Howe and her sister to the Ball.

Civil War Veteran-Captain of Co.'D',10th Indiana Cavalry.

Captain William Mead was a Volunteer in the Indiana Cavalry,& Indiana Archives states they only have the birth of Captain William Mead as born March 5 1811 in Westchester County NY. He volunteered and that is the only info Indiana took from Volunteers was birth date and place.

William Mead married Emily Howe in Patriot, Switzerland County, Indiana on 13th of Nov, 1845.

Enos Mead and Nancy Avery from Westchester county NY

have also found his siblings -many of his siblings and their spouses are in the Avery Cemetery in Cross River, Westchester County NY
All children, including William Mead of Switzerland County Indiana were documented on a 1849 Land Sale when his father, Enos Mead, died
