Dorothy Fisher Angell, 94, loving and devoted wife and mother, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010, at her residence at Emeritus at Cave Spring in Roanoke, Va.

She was the oldest member at her passing of Boones Mill Baptist Church. She was employed for many years at Roanoke Mills and Puritan Mills and was a member during those years of the ILGWU.

Most of her time was spent as a housewife, providing and caring for her family who she loved dearly and always placed first.

She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, James Lewis Angell; mother, Arbelia Kingery Fisher; father, Joseph Walter Fisher; daughters, Marie Angell Brown and Gloria Carolyn Angell; brothers, Silas Fisher and Luke Fisher; and sisters, Bertha Hartman, Virginia Edwards, Etta Argabright and Lillie Sink.

Surviving family include children and their spouses, Joanne and Frank Kennedy, Joseph and Jean Angell, Connie and Cliff Slone, Guy and Tammy Angell; grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Tammy Kennedy, Teresa and Jeff Van Buren, Sherry and Fred Malpass, Rob and Beth Brown, Mark and Jennifer Angell, Deana and Dwayne Brogan, Scott and Wendy Ross-Terry, and April and Wade Yopp; great-grandchildren, Quinn Kennedy, Cara Kennedy, Kelsey Angell, Jared Thomas, Seth Brogan, Justin Malpass, Tommy Brown, Kailee Brown, Ryan Wilkerson and Gloria Angel Ross-Terry; sisters, Nettie Sink, Frances Dangerfield and Janie Turman; a host of grand and great-grand pets, Molly, Lexee, Bentley, Penni, Chipper, Sylvester, Witty, Gadget, Butterbean, Biscuit, Mya, Max, Buttercup, Sissy, Thomas, Buddy, Coco, Bentley the Cat, Bo, Puffers, Princess, Violet and Jeffrey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Roanoke with Pastor Jim Steele and Dr. Richard Harrell officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for the love and support that has been shown by everyone during this time. We would like to express special thanks to everyone at Emeritus at Cave Spring Assisted Living and Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their love, support, and acts of kindness shown.
