It appears her father died sometime between the 1860 & 1870 census when she is again seen with Nancy in Washington County, Alabama, along with her sisters Jennett, Isabella & Sarah. Both the 1860 & 1870 census show her born later, circa 1851-1852. She was seen in 1880 with R. Z. Adams in Wayne County, Mississippi on the 1880 census, again born circa 1851. This later birth year would explain why she was not shown with the family on the 1850 census. The records from the Clan McAlister of America show her born 1850 in Alabama.
Some have stated her mother was Nancy Stafford who was also married to an Archibald McAllister, but conflicting records show them living in Carroll County, Mississippi in 1850 living next to Peter Stafford, Daniel Stafford, Murdock Stafford & John Stafford with an entirely different set of children. That Archibald was last seen in 1855 on the tax records in Carroll County & his wife petitioned the court on 01 February 1860 regarding his estate stating he had eight children, with the minor children named as "Martha aged 17 years, Alexander aged 15 years and Lewis aged 13 years". There was no mention of a minor daughter named Rosanna. That Archibald is listed at the Clan McAlister of America -"A56 - Archibald McAllister Born about 1796 in NC; died 1855-1856 in Carroll Co, MS. Married Nancy Stafford (sister to Daniel Stafford, husband of K01 Catherine McAllister. Archibald and Nancy had eight children born between 1827 and 1847. Migration: /NC/MS-Carroll-Montgomery-Webster".
