On 6-3-1943 she married Truett Patterson. During World War II she taught music at Merrillville and later at Brook. After the war they moved to Indianapolis. They had 3 children: Mary, Jane, and Mark. Martha was a member of the Chancel Choir at Broadway United Methodist Church and was a frequent soloist. She taught piano lessons and was a 4H club leader. Martha became a piano technician in the early 1960's. Truett and Martha were divorced. In 1966 she married Rex Brown. They had one child, Rex Aaron Brown. Martha and Rex were later divorced. In 1969 she began teaching music in Indianapolis Public Schools. In 1977 she became a piano technician for Indianapolis Public Schools retiring in 1985. In her later years Martha became a member at Calvary Baptist Church. Martha had 9 grandchildren with a 10th grandchild born about 6 weeks after her death. Her funeral service was held on 5-30-1998 at Calvary Baptist Church.
