Kershaw, Sept 25 - S.D. Belk, 86, died at the home of his son, Dr. J.R. Belk in the town of Kershaw Tuesday night, Sept 21. In the passing of this good man, Lancaster county lost one of its most beloved and noble citizens.
He was born in Lancaster County August 2, 1851. His entire life was spent in his home county, residing at Taxahaw the greater part of his life. He moved to Kershaw in 1918.
He served for a number of years as a member of the board of deacons of the Taxahaw Baptist church, holding his office with dignity and grace.
He was survived by the following children: W.J. Belk of Miami, Fla.; Dr. J.R. Belk of Kershaw, Dr. J.S. Belk of Greenville, Dr. G.W. Belk of Gastonia, NC.; Miss Pet Belk of Kershaw and several grandchildren.
