FREMONT: Susan M. Rutherford, 62, of Fremont, died Sunday morning with her family by her side.
She was born October 6, 1947 in Fremont to Fred and Bernice (Joseph) Mutchler. She graduated from Lakota High School in 1965 and later married Robert Rutherford on June 24, 1967 at the Burgoon United Methodist Church. She worked for years as the Clerk of Courts and also the clerical secretary of the Sandusky County Metropolitan Housing Authority. She was a member of the Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church where she was very active. She also wrote a column for the church that would appear every week in the News Messenger. She was also the Secretary and Treasurer of the Pioneer Auto Club of Northwest Ohio. Susan was a very selfless person who always gave to others before doing things for herself. She was a very supportive and encouraging wife and mother, being very involved in all the boys' activities all through school including Fremont Ross High Music Boosters and various football games and music programs. She loved to bake and made the best peanut brittle in the world! Susan will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and sister.
Surviving is her husband, Robert Rutherford of Fremont; sons, Jeffrey Rutherford of Winchester, VA and Russell Rutherford of Fremont; and brothers, Steven Mutchler and Michael Mutchler, both of Fremont.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch St., Fremont. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
