Mrs. Andre deLimur Dies
Of Heart Attack In Paris
Mrs. Andre deLimur, the former Ethel May Crocker of the historic California family is dead at 72. Mrs. deLimur died Monday in Paris of a heart attack during a visit to the French capital. She was the daughter of San Francisco banker and philanthropist William Henry Crocker. Mrs. deLimur and her husband have been frequent visitors to the Bay Area. Their home in recent years has been in Washington, D.C.
She and deLimur, then a French Count in this country's aviation service met in wartime France where she was doing relief work. They were married in New York City in March 1918. Later deLimur entered the French Diplomatic service. He became an American citizen in 1941 and served in the American Army during World War II.
Mrs. deLimur participated in many of his overseas trips but also spent considerable time at New Place, the Crocker family home in Burlingame. Between wars Mrs. deLimur became a noted hostess in Washington and at the deLimur mansion in Paris.
In addition to her husband Mrs. deLimur is survived by a brother, William Willard Crocker of Burlingame, a sister, Mrs. Henry Potter Russell of San Francisco, a son, Charles of Paris and two daughters, Mrs. Chester [Helen Marie H.M.] Washer of Santa Cruz and Mrs. Neil Carothers III [later Mary Ethel Weinmann] of Washington, D.C.
Memorial services will be held in Paris on Friday at the American Cathedral and burial services Monday at Christ Church in Georgetown. Dean Julian Bartlett will officiate at a 2PM Monday memorial service at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco.
