EUGENE RHODES was born on the 4th of July, 1892. Gramps was definitely born on the 4th of July and we always celebrated his birthday with fireworks and a picnic. He often told people that everyone celebrated his birth with fireworks. He was proud to be born on the 4th of July. Eugene was born in NEOSHO FALLS, KANSAS to Gertrude Ober and Milton Rhodes.
Eugene was baptised on January 27, 1893 at Ivanhoe Christian Church.
He was a building contractor and stone mason. He built numerous homes throughout Kansas City, Missouri and Johnson County in Kansas. He was the father of three children: 2 daughters and one son.
Vida Elma Fowler and Eugene Rhodes were married on the 9th of October 1915...Taken from original marriage certificate.
Eugene passed away on January 3, 1969 at the University of Kansas hosptial in Kansas City, Kansas.
Eugene Rhodes, 76, of 1759 South Forty-ninth Place, Kansas City, Kansas died yesterday at the University of Kansas Medical Center after a 2-year illness. Born in Neosho Falls, Kansas, he had lived most of his life in the Greater Kansas City area. He was a retired home building contractor. He leaves two daughter, Marion Marie McMahan, Seattle, Washington and Elma Louise Clyde, of Merriam and one son, Virgle Eugene Rhodes of the home; two brothers, George B. Rhodes Raytown, Missouri and Robert Rhodes, Kansas City, Missouri; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
