JOHN HUBBARD
Effingham, IL - John Wesley "Wes" Hubbard, 86, of Effingham, passed away at 7:52 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at his home.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham, with the Rev. Joseph Scheets officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be Thursday, Oct. 22 in Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. Memorials may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham.
Mr. Hubbard was born Aug. 7, 1923, in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Jones Bright and Mollie (Stanford) Hubbard. He married Jean Gallagher June 11, 1948, in Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. Hubbard was a parts manager with various John Deere dealerships in Effingham for over 50 years. He served with the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne during World War II. Mr. Hubbard was a longtime member and past lay leader at Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Effingham; sons, John Hubbard of Dallas, Jim Hubbard of Effingham and Jerry (wife, Barb) Hubbard of Puyallup, Wash.; grandchildren, Jeremy (wife, Trisha) Hubbard of Effingham, Julia (husband, Matt) Poulter of Liberty, Jacob Hubbard and John (wife, Leslie) Hubbard, both of Puyallup, Wash.; stepgrandchildren, Robert Woll and Jennifer Woll, both of Puyallup, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Dylan Hubbard and Jordan Hubbard, both of Effingham, and Nathan Poulter of Liberty; and sisters, Mary Elma Harwood of Spring, Texas and Martha Simpson of Memphis, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Milton and Ed Hubbard; and sister, Louise Hubbard.
The Hubbard family wishes to recognize the loving care provided by the Davita dialysis staff in Effingham for the past three years as well as the excellent support of Lincolnland Hospice of Sarah Bush Lincoln during his final days with us.
