Obituary:

Waterford has lost one of its best and most highly respected citizens, Nelson Brace, who passed away March 6, 1903. His death was caused by a stroke of paralysis. He was a kind and affectionate husband and father and his loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him best.

About 15 years ago Mr. Brace moved to this place from a farm near West Greene and has held several offices to the boro, always proving faithful in looking after the interests of the people.

He was born April 10, 1837, in Greene township, Erie county. He was one of a family of twelve, seven brothers and four sisters, who all grew to manhood and womanhood except one, who died in infancy. Now no sisters remain, and one brother, Dennis, passing away December 28, 1887. Thomas, the oldest brother, is still living on the old homestead in Greene townhip; william at Belle Valley; Charles at Bear lake; Benson at Union City; Henry at Eureka, Cal., and Willis at Port Wing, Wis., the last two not getting to see him in his last sickness. Early in 1862 he married Miss Carrie Harding-Tuttle, who, after birth of her son, Z. A. Brace, who still survives, passed away February 14, 1863. January 25 1866, he married his survivng wife, Miss Mary Wilson.

The funeral services were held at his late residence Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. J. E. Roberts officiating. Interment made in Waterford Cemetery.

One precious to our heart is gone,

The voice we loved is stilled;

The place made vacant in our home

Can never more be filled.
