There appears to be some confusion regarding both the birth and death dates for Elmer Walker Bixler. His WWI card lists his birth year as 1877 while his WWII card lists 1878. The obituary that follows lists 1878 as his year of birth. Two Oklahoma newspaper death notices differ in the actual day of his death in January 1946. One reports Tues., January 8, and another reports Wed., January 9. No additional documentation could be located to clarify either his birth year or his actual day of death in January 1946. "Bixler Service Held Sunday" — Rose Croix services were held for Elmer Walker Bixler on Saturday, January 12, at midnight at the First Congregational Church with a degree team from Enid in charge. Funeral services were conducted Sunday by Rev. George Baker. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Floyd Funeral Home in charge.

Bixler was born March 23, 1878, at Olney, Illinois. He came to Waynoka at the opening of the Cherokee Strip and homesteaded northeast of town. He has been active in farm and business circles since that time, being one of the oldest Ford dealers in Oklahoma.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clara Bixler; two sons, L. G. and Chet; one daughter, Mrs. C. L. Godfrey; five grandchildren; step-mother, Mrs. Addie Bixler; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Walter and Mrs. Gertrude Nugent; one half-brother, Roy; and four half-sisters, Mrs. Vincent Browning, Mrs. Melvin Coulter, Mrs. Carl Hempel, and Mrs. John Icke.
