Mrs. J. J. C. Bond died Tuesday morning of typhoid fever at the home of her husband on Litsey avenue, this city. She had been ill since September and at one time her recovery was thought certain, but a relapse set in, and for the last two weeks little hope was entertained that she would survive. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. LeGrand Hawkins, of Salvisa neighborhood, and was a lady of many Christian attributes. The husband and five children, the oldest ten years of age and the youngest a babe of a year, have the sympathy of the community at large in the hour of their great desolation. Her remains were taken to Salvisa Wednesday morning where funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. E. Wright, of the Methodist church. The interment took place at Mt. Mrs. Cordelia Bond, wife of Squire J. J. C. Bond and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. LeGrand Hawkins, died, of typhoid fever, at her late home here, yesterday, fore-noon. During her illness of eleven weeks, she bore her affliction with true christian fortitude saying "Lord, thy will , not mine, be done." Her sadly bereaved husband and five small children, the oldest, ten years of age and the youngest, only one, have the deepest sympathy of the entire community. She was thirty one years of age and for eleven years had been a dutiful, affectionate and faithful wife. When seventeen, she became a member of the Methodist church and has ever since that time lived a faithful follower of her Savior and has received the plaudit of "Well done, good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joys of thy Lord." She was a lady of culture and refinement and her loss to her husband and little children is exceedingly great. Her remains will leave here, this fore-noon, at 11 o'clock, for Salvisa, where the funeral will be conducted by Rev. J. E. Wright, and the interment will be in Mt. Hebron cemetery, in Anderson county.

Bond took its flight to that fair land where God shall wipe away all tears from her eyes;" and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there he any more pain." On the following day the remains were brought to the M. E. church, in our village, of which she was a member, where a most beautiful and impressive funeral service was conducted by Bro. J. E. Wright, pastor at Harrodsburg, assisted by that good and grand man, Bro. W. F. Vaughan, Presiding Elder, in the presence of sorrowing relatives and friends after which, the body was laid to rest until the morning of the resurrection, in Hebron cemetery. While we know that "afflictions which are but for a moment " are permitted by a loving Father, and "will work out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory" it sometimes seems more than we can bear, and words of human sympathy fall cold and meaningless on our ear. But praise His holy name "there is a balm in Gilead," and a great Physician whose good pleasure it is, not only to pour on the balm of consolation, and to bind up the poor, bruised, bleeding hearts, but to cause them to rejoice in affection. Dear bereaved ones, "only trust Him." Don't worry about the little ones. Their mother left them in the care of her God. He will fold them with His sheep, and carry the lambs on His bosom until they are old enough to choose for themselves, like Mary, "that better part."
